Industrial Designer
Professional info
The first few years of my career were spent at Whirlpool Corporation's Global Consumer Design Studio in Michigan. It was a great place to learn about innovation and design. In that time, I gained insight on brand positioning, and how to use design to move a portfolio of products towards a desired future state. The studio grew during those years from a dozen to over 100+ designers in multiple locations around the world. This exposure to international contacts and travel, helped influence my point of view and my work process.
In 2008 I accepted a job with Tetra Pak in Modena, Italy. Curiousity about the rest of the world, as well as a desire to better evolve my understanding of ethnography and user-driven
innovation were factors in this. The Consumer Concepts group at Tetra Pak placed a high priority on observing and innovating with consumers in various parts of the world.
in 2010 the company relocated me to Sweden where I joined the Front End Innovation team as a Lead Industrial Designer. My focus was to help ensure the product pipeline is filled with the right balance of evolutionary and truly breakthrough concepts. This often involved not just product or technology ideas, but business innovation which created better revenue potential and brand presence for our customers.
I returned to the States in 2015 to join the Newell Brands Design Team in Kalamazoo. As an Industrial Designer here, I've had the opportunity to design products for brands like Irwin, Lenox Tools, Calphalon Cookware, Rubbermaid Commercial, Yankee Candle, Oster, and Mr. Coffee.
